High waisted denim shorts are always on my radar so when I see a pair pop up from any jean brand I usually check them out. They just don't make that many high waisted jean shorts in blue or black. This is only my second pair. Last year I found a pair by Genetic Denim that also had a perfect fit. This pair from 7 For All Mankind is really destroyed so if you are shy in any way I would steer clear. However, if you like the looks of these I can tell you that they are now on sale via the link in my outfit description and you can get free overnight shipping as well. The shorts are great if you have any sort of a butt and waist. They follow a woman's curves. Plus, the denim is super soft.
For their debut I wore them with an open knit sheer sweater from Kimberly Ovitz. I know I own way too many of these types of sweaters, but I always use them a lot. This one has a higher hem in the front, which exposes some belly. That is why I paired the top with high waisted bottoms. The back is longer and features split detailing. I had to wear my Helmut Lang asymmetric bra with this top. It works so well with any of my sheer sweaters. This sweater feels really nice against the skin and I have a feeling it isn't as delicate as it looks which is good if you like to wear jewelry.
For a bold dash of color I wore a vintage lapis and diamond ring. I am really into vintage jewelry, but you will rarely see me in any vintage clothing. Denver just doesn't have that many great places to search for vintage pieces. However, for vintage jewelry I highly recommend eBay. I bet the woman who wore this ring was a classy lady. To add some of my signature bohemian style I grabbed my fringed Jimmy Choo clutch. After 2 years this bag is still in heavy rotation. Bags and shoes are something you should invest in because they have a longer shelf life than clothing. To toughen up the look I went for black ankle boots instead of sandals. I don't think anyone will mess with me when they see the pointy heel on these Giuseppe Zanotti booties.
