When you don't want to wear leather leggings because it isn't quite cold enough you can always try liquid leggings. They are thinner and sleeker. Add a soft, long distressed top and a cozy shearling jacket for bulk on top. For a pop of color try a bright cashmere scarf. To make sure you can trek around town wear some black wedges that have a saw sole or some type of grips on the bottom. This look would work well for a casual night out. I love the way this bra peeks out under tank tops thanks to the criss cross straps. It really can make even the most basic tank look really unique. I told you I wear these James Perse long tanks all the time and I definitely wasn't lying. I wouldn't mind having a whole bunch of these tanks in different colors. They come in so handy and I love James Perse because the fabric they use is so soft against my skin. I wore a bright pop of color over my black tank. I had never heard of Demy Lee before Gilt Groupe so when they were having a sale I checked it out. I noticed Demy Lee uses a lot of cashmere fabrics, bright colors, and stripes. This Demy Lee cardigan in particular is made of cashmere and I adore the pink stripes. It adds a punk vibe to the all black outfit. We took some up close photos of the square pink buttons on this cardigan as well. I love all the Demy Lee cardigans and sweaters I have bought off of Gilt and you really can't beat the price. It is nice to bring some pink back into my life in a subtle way.
Three Dots makes some great basic pieces that are made in the USA. This front zipper skirt that I am wearing is thicker than it looks. I think having two zippers down the front makes it stand out from all the other skirts that have one zipper going down the back. I wore a silk skirt from Three Dots that I bought from the same Gilt sale a few weeks back on the blog. I hope that Gilt Groupe has more Three Dots and Demy Lee sales. The great thing about Gilt is that you find out about designers and brands you never would have heard of if you are always shopping in the same place.
For shoes I wore my Miu Miu shearling lace up boots. I swear that every time I wear these I cannot help but pair them with pink items, hence the cardigan. They are great for trudging around in the snow because they have soles similar to hiking boots. They remind me of my Alaia hiking boots a little bit, but they are taller and have shearling.

Eugenia Kim Honey Sunhat in Black - Snagged off Shopbop.com for $160 (Retail: $286)
I finally found myself a beautiful floppy hat. I had been looking for a nice one for months. It is my first piece by Eugenia Kim and I have to say it is exceptional quality. Now I know why all the celebrities love Eugenia Kim. This sun hat will probably be with me forever. I am glad I waited for a code at Shopbop to get it for a reasonable price. I wanted to wear it with over the knee socks so I pulled out my trusty ASOS brand socks. These socks have really stood the test of time. I wore them all summer, all fall, and now all winter. They stay up and they don't dig into my legs so get them if you can because they are pretty cheap and high quality.
The Three Dots brand is new to me, but Gilt Groupe was having a sale by them a few months back and I picked up some pieces. This hammered silk skirt was one of the pieces and with a little steaming it is quite cheerleader-ish or so the boyfriend says. Anyway, I can't get enough of short little full skirts like this one. This skirt was high waisted enough to allow me to wear this cropped sweater by Adam. I saw this sweater all over in red, but never in this creamy white color so when I saw it on Gilt I snagged it right away. For a cable knit that was not a bad price and I own a lot of high waisted pieces so I feel I will get a lot of use out of this sweater. I was looking all winter for various cable knits, but now I am burned out on sweaters and ready for spring. Anyone else feel that way?
Now on to the good part, the shoes! As with all Alaia shoes, I never think the online photos at Net-a-Porter do them justice. I waited for these to get marked down for a long time and I wondered if I should even get them. Would I be able to match them with enough outfits from my closet or were they too busy? In the end I decided they are black and white and have fun polka dots so they should go with most pattern-less outfits and could maybe even be mixed with some other prints. I find Alaia shoes to be some of the most comfortable shoes and they are very sturdy so I don't have to worry about them too much, although I do worry about these getting dirty because they are so white.
