Isn't the color of this jacket beautiful? I love anything this color, but I don't see it around too often in clothing. I styled it in a seventies way with a western twist since I live in Colorado. This polka dot blouse underneath is an old piece that I found while organizing my closet. I liked the black and white polka dots contrasting with the emerald green suede. I snagged this skinny scarf for under $10 and it is the perfect accessory to update all your ensembles. It adds that seventies touch that I was looking for. This hat is also old and it is perfect for bad hair days. The jeans have a slightly shiny texture and they are really comfortable. These boots are one of my favorite pairs thanks to the neat details. If you want to get good photos try shooting your photos in a tunnel. Tunnels are my favorite photo shoot locations. I am off to listen to some more Eminem!
I have been traveling a lot lately and on a recent trip to Chicago I decided to document my travel look. When traveling I like to be comfortable and that is my only concern. I also don't like to wear lighter colors too much as the airports and planes are not that clean. I will usually stick to an all black look, especially in the fall and winter. We stayed at the Trump Hotel in Chicago and snapped these photos in the bathroom of our suite as soon as we got there. The hotel had amazing views and it had everything we needed for our stay.
I don't check any of my luggage as I have had problems in the past. Sometimes they will go through your luggage and mess everything up and you always have to worry about your luggage getting lost or something being stolen. I like to have everything with me and on me at all times. I travel with a Tumi carry-on and a Pendleton weekender bag and with these two pieces I can fit everything I need for a three to four day trip. If the trip does go on longer I have to think about checking my luggage. However, my Tumi carry-on is expandable and sometimes we can get away with making it bigger to fit more items depending on the plane we are traveling on and the storage situation in the overhead bins. I have been lucky so far.
I will usually wear my most comfortable pair of jeans that somewhat feel like leggings with a lot of stretch. These high-rise jeans from Level 99 have just the right fabric blend and they conform to my curves. I am always comfortable in these jeans and they are my first pick for travel. I find low-rise jeans to be uncomfortable for traveling and sitting for long periods for obvious reasons. On top I am wearing a basic 100% cotton long sleeve top from Rag & Bone. I invest in a lot of luxury basics similar to this long sleeve tee. By that I mean I will spend a lot on a T-shirt. This one is around $85, but I love it because it is soft and comfortable. I also think it wears well and is good for layering. I have this top in white as well. You can never have too many long sleeve and short sleeve T-shirts in black and white colors. You will always find a time when you need them.
For shoes I went with my Converse low-top sneakers and some Hue socks. Hue makes the softest and most comfortable socks. Falke is another great brand for socks, but I prefer Hue with my Converse sneakers. I take black sneakers because they go with everything. I don't like to wear sneakers that look like running shoes because I still want to feel somewhat stylish in my basic outfit. I also use these shoes on and off with other outfits when I travel or I am walking throughout the city I am visiting. If it is raining I like to have a pair of shoes such as these sneakers that I don't have to worry about getting wet.
I was wearing my oversized Rag & Bone peacoat that you last saw here on the plane. However, when it got close to landing time I switched to this IRO leather motorcycle jacket to look a bit sleeker for the hotel arrival. I wore my peacoat with all my other looks during the trip however since it was quite cold most days. It is always best to wear your biggest and bulkiest items on the plane so that is why I was wearing the peacoat. It is often cold as well and I ended up wearing the peacoat again on the flight back into Denver. Stay tuned for more of my outfits during my stay in Chicago. I already miss that friendly and beautiful city.
Marc Allison Jeans just came across my radar thanks to their wonderful fit. I am wearing the michi mid rise skinny in black. These jeans are so comfortable that I ended up wearing them a few days in a row. I think we all do that with pieces we love. The reason why Marc Allison Jeans are so comfortable is because they are made with supima cotton, which is the finest cotton in the world. If you are a longtime reader you know how picky I am about fabrics and the pieces I put on my body have to be soft. The supima cotton allows the jeans to stretch in both the length and the width, conforming to your unique body shape. You can wear these jeans as many as seven times without washing and they won't loose their shape. Also, Marc Allison Jeans are made in Los Angeles. Marc Allison Jeans run about one size small so in these photos I am wearing one size up from my usual denim size. You can take 40% off any purchase from Marc Allison Jeans with the code SNAG40. This code will expire on September 7th at midnight so be sure to stock up on some new jeans for fall.
When styling the jeans I decided to go for a western look suitable for someone like me who lives in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains. The weather was warm, but not hot and there was a chance of rain. It was slightly overcast as well. I had a doctor's appointment and then I was meeting up with my boyfriend for lunch. We ended up having an amazing salad and olive oil bread that was toasted to perfection. After lunch we headed to a popular coffee spot for a latte. I usually dress according to the weather and the activities of the day. I wanted to still feel stylish, but also be somewhat low key. The first thing I did was pick out a printed sleeveless silk blouse by Equipment that I felt guilty about not wearing all summer. I thought I could style it in a fall or transitional weather fashion by pairing it with a washed leather motorcycle jacket. I have a huge love for anything featuring a star print.
I added the hat and boots last. The hat is really such a steal if you look at the price of hats on Shopbop and other places. It is by Pendleton and it is a classic style, meaning it will never go out of style. Mine is in black, but it also comes in brown. I think you have to have fun with fashion and one way to do that, especially when the temps start to drop, is to incorporate hats. Hats are your best weapon against bad or unwashed hair days as well. The Giuseppe Zanotti boots are this wild lizard embossed leather and very bold. The gold shiny effect was enough to amp up the otherwise black and white look. I always feel low key in ankle boots.
