I hosted a Denver holiday event alongside the lovely Jamie of The Denver Housewife over at JCPenney in Park Meadows Mall.  Jamie and I chose gifts unique to our blogging styles to share with JCPenney shoppers.  We spoke about #JoyWorthGiving which is a common theme this holiday season.  The essence of Christmas is rooted in the joy of giving.  It's the joy of finding just the right gift for that special person.  JCPenney has all the gifts customers want this holiday season including a variety of stylish, affordable fashion and entertaining decor for a holiday party, and gift ideas from fashion, home, toys, and more for friends and family.  We spread the message with attending shoppers by describing our gifts and why we chose them for the recipient.  You can see my picks below as well as shop the dress I am wearing in the photos from the event.  The red dress is great for any upcoming holiday parties when paired with a wool cardigan.  My gifts are perfect for high school and college women.  Black skinny jeans and a cozy gray hoodie are essentials when you are running to and from classes.  A quirky Mickey Mouse watch that will bring a smile to your face when you are studying is another great gift idea.  A buffalo check pajama set that is so soft I could not stop petting it is also a must-have item for lounging around in the dorms.  The butterfly necklace is for that special woman in your life.  Having the opportunity to give gifts away to JCPenney shoppers and seeing the joy in their eyes reinforces my feelings that giving to others brings one the most joy in life possible.  I was also impressed with how some of the people at our presentation seemed to be as joyous at seeing others win gifts as if they had won them themselves.  The holiday season, more than any other time of year, gives us all hope for a bright future in a world where we can take care of one another.

(Givenchy Sandals, Levi's Shorts, Saint Laurent Bag, Project Social T Tank, Urban Outfitters Choker, Avon Earrings, Onecklace Necklace)

I love my new custom vintage Levi's denim shorts.  If you know me you know I have one too many pairs of denim shorts.  I certainly don't need anymore in my closet, but who can resist soft, worn-in denim?  Certainly not yours truly!  The floral addition to these shorts makes them super cute.  I paired them with this thermal looking tank top.  I've had a love affair with waffle weave fabrics and thermal underwear for as long as I can remember.  No, I am serious.  Anything that has to do with comfort or being cozy usually has me hooked.  After all, I am the homebody of the zodiac.  On my arm is my favorite fringe leather bucket bag.  I don't think I will ever get sick of this purse.  I am wearing wooden platform clogs with stud detailing, the perfect casual everyday shoes.  Some people think I am dressed up when I wear these, but to me they are casual.  I live in an alternate universe so it's okay if you don't understand me.  I don't even understand myself.  I was sick of my usual black chokers and lavender/purple colors have seemed appealing to me again after a long hiatus.  I added my name plate necklace and my mom's trusty vintage hoop earrings and the ensemble was finished.  Oh yeah, the holes and rips in these shorts are in the perfect spots if you dare to wear them.

(Forever 21 Dress, Saint Laurent Pumps, Erica Harel Bag, Vanessa Mooney Choker, Ariel Gordon Earrings)

Can you believe that this dress is under $23?  It is so adorable.  I love the fit and the colors in it.  I paired it with a leather tote bag for all my essentials as well as some patent leather platform mary jane pumps I've had in my closet for a couple years.  The choker necklace was a recent snag in addition to the dress and it is under $50.  This ensemble has a nineties vibe to it and I am not complaining.
