For crisp days only leather or corduroy pants will do so I wore my burgundy skinny cords from Rag & Bone. Paired with an army shirt tied at the waist and a shearling bi-color jacket, the look was perfect for running errands. One of my most outstanding wardrobe pieces has to be this Adam shearling and leather circle skirt I snagged off the Shopbop website. I saw this piece when it first popped up in the new arrivals section and I wanted it badly. However, I decided to wait it out and literally stalked the skirt until it got marked down. Luckily, they had one left in the size I thought I needed. I knew this skirt might not be the most flattering or slimming due to the sheer volume, but I adored it anyway. When I received it I was ecstatic. It came on a skirt hanger complete with little pieces of matching leather backed shearling in the clips so the hanger did not leave marks on the skirt. Don't you hate when that happens? It was as beautiful as I imagined it would be and after seeing so many photos of it going down the runway it felt great to have it in my collection. Who knew shearling and leather would work in a skirt so well?
I kept the look simple because I wanted to emphasize the skirt. Since the skirt is so full I wanted to keep it slim and form-fitting on top. I paired the skirt with this Splendid turtleneck. It is an old standby of mine and I believe that Splendid makes the best basic turtlenecks. They are around $50 and they do not stretch out. I own one in charcoal gray as well.
For accessories I wore my cashmere-lined leather gloves again. I liked the line the gloves created with the turtleneck because they were both the same color black. These Prada mary janes added the perfect pop of color to this outfit. I always wanted a wine colored pair of suede shoes and I was lucky enough to get these for Christmas. They are classics I think and perfect for this time of year. I was really impressed with a lot of the Prada shoes from the fall 2010 collection.

I was searching and searching for the perfect faux fur coat when I came across this one by Burning Torch. I saw some reviews for it on Shopbop and one person said it made you look like you weigh 300 lbs. However, I still took a chance and ordered it. When I received it I was more than delighted with it. I mean, I knew a faux fur coat was not going to make me look any thinner, but frankly I don't care. I wanted something big and warm and this definitely fit the bill. The lining is silk and as you can see it is green with some plaid, which I think is really beautiful. The lining of garments really matters to me and when I see things lined with polyester I am disappointed. The label Burning Torch uses on their clothing is also interesting. It features a 1940s-esque looking woman and I find that the style of coat, a raccoon fur coat, is what the women wore back then.
I wore the Burning Torch faux fur coat with my Helmut Lang uneven stitch sweater. The sweater did not look as appealing online as it did in person. It is very soft and delicate and you know I love how the hemline is longer in the back. Also, it is the perfect sweater to wear with this T by Alexander Wang bra, which I find myself wearing all the time. Helmut Lang has slowly become one of my favorite designers. Leather and suede leggings have become my winter attire around here since taking photos outdoors isn't as pleasant as it once was in the summer. These Alexander Wang leather leggings keep me toasty warm and I like the bits of suede mixed in. They also have zippers near the ankles, but I didn't unzip them.
My boyfriend bought me these Miu Miu ankle boots for Christmas even though he could have sworn I have a very similar looking pair. I assured him that was not the case. They are basic ankle boots and go with everything and that is what I like about them. These leather gloves lined with cashmere were a Christmas present from last year. They are definitely an essential item in my Colorado winter gear.
