One of my favorite combinations is wearing denim shorts with opaque tights. It is an old look I can always come back to and it really elongates the legs. This is the perfect solution if you are ready for spring and summer, but it isn't quite warm enough to wear your shorts. I thew on a stretchy crop top and a completely destroyed short sleeved denim jacket for a double denim ensemble. I added a touch of boho with my suede fringe boots. This look feels very nineties to me and I am not complaining about that. I am either dressing for the 1970s or the 1990s lately.
In other news, Celine is back in Vegas and I already scored tickets to four different shows. I am excited to sit front row and now I cannot wait for fall to get here already. It is always nice to have something to look forward to in life.
A black leather miniskirt is a great way to step into fall. Pair it with a sheer top for a sexy, yet edgy look. Add red platform pumps for some color and a little fringe for some fun. Shop the entire look below. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to see all my videos.
Navy blue and black is one of my favorite color combinations to indulge in every fall. I really got lucky because this Jonathan Simkhai top has that exact color combination. With its exaggerated sleeves and sheer cobweb texture it was hard to resist. I will admit that it is a trendy piece and not really a classic. My last look I thought was a classic one that could stand the test of time. This look I find to be more edgy. The oufit a few posts back with the Giuseppe Zanotti knee high boots was bohemian. And there you have it, the three cornerstones of my style are classic, edgy, and bohemian. I rotate between these styles time after time, never sticking to one all the time. I guess this is the fun side of fashion. You can dress up and create a mood on a certain day.
Now let's get back to my edgy look. The shirt is totally sheer so that is where a really athletic looking (but not really used for sports) bra comes in. This T by Alexander Wang one is somewhat thick and has the criss cross straps in the back. It is definitely one that I would be tempted to wear as a top. These are the bras I wear under sheer pieces. They really do come in handy as you can see the back detailing of the bra through the shirt. I never feel naked when wearing tops like this Jonathan Simkhai one, but somehow in photos everything looks a bit more revealing. I am used to sheer tops.
I paired the top with a leather miniskirt that looks short, but really doesn't feel that short. Aren't those skirts the best kind? So many times we have to compromise with a skirt that makes our legs look good, but in reality is too short to sit down or bend over in. I think this is the never-ending dilemma for women like me who have a butt. Having a butt causes the skirt to look even shorter than when you saw it online on the model.
I snagged these Sergio Rossi pumps a long time ago off Gilt Groupe, my old stomping ground from the 2010 Fashion Snag era. I used to love that place and I still find some great things there. I am just a lot more careful about what I purchase from sale websites. I want to make sure the item is something I really want and thought about before pulling the trigger. The pumps add a bright color to the entire ensemble and they make my legs look longer. Platform pumps look better for those of us with shorter legs than the pumps lacking a platform. I personally like both and you will see me switching between the two styles quite frequently.
I know you guys might be sick of seeing all the fringe bags on my blog, but I could not resist this little fringed leather bucket bag from Saint Laurent. It is adorable and it reminds me of one I had as a kid that I left in the WalMart dressing room. Don't worry, I did get it back, but they tried to tell me they didn't have it. I just happened to spot it behind the counter. I think someone was trying to take my bag and my $70 home with them! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the edgy look. I guess tomorrow maybe I will try a bohemian look again =)
This is probably my signature look. You see me in it all the time. The formula is simple. Take a flared knit skirt, preferably a rayon or viscose blend, and any crop top and voila. You have an instant killer outfit. I love this look because it accentuates the waist and hips. My niece rolls her eyes at me whenever I find another crop top and says "Jackie and her crop tops." I accessorized with double cuffs on my arms and my favorite strappy sandals. This bag is actually really cool due to the way it opens. It is structured and roomy. The pattern of this skirt is what had me from the beginning and a cutout crop top has my name written all over it.
