I've had these Puma sneakers for quite some time and something inside me told me to pull them out on this day and wear them. We headed for our favorite running and biking trail in a location we always wanted to shoot near this old run-down red barn.
I've had these Puma sneakers for quite some time and something inside me told me to pull them out on this day and wear them. We headed for our favorite running and biking trail in a location we always wanted to shoot near this old run-down red barn.
I have been on a sneakers kick lately and the latest sneakers I have been wearing are these pink and gray ones by Puma. I matched my entire outfit to the shoes because I love them so much. This ensemble is something I would typically wear to run errands. I like to look cute, but casual and comfortable so I can get everything done. Gray jeans from J Brand and a pink burnout tank from Karen Zambos Vintage Couture are soft pieces to wear every day, while the cashmere hoodie from Rock & Republic takes the place of a jacket on a chilly spring day. White sunglasses added a fun feel to the entire look. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to see all my videos.

This skirt by Alice + Olivia is a new addition to my wardrobe for spring. I think leather skirts are timeless and I have plenty of black ones I love so when I saw this one in a beautiful nude shade I thought it would get plenty of use. I used a code at Tobi to order it over a month ago. It has a great tulip shape to it and it is slightly longer than a lot of skirts I own, but I really like that about it. It is very feminine and the tan color blends with my skin color. I think Alice + Olivia makes some of the best leather skirts. My black pleated leather skirt by Alice + Olivia is already one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I cannot say I love their leather leggings, but the leather skirts are very well made compared to the leggings.
I am in spring gardening mode and getting ready to plant lot of veggies so I have had the color green on my mind quite a bit. When I saw the skirt I knew a deep tree-like green would be beautiful with it. You have seen me wearing this silk cami before and it is one of those pieces that is extremely versatile. I slipped it on over this lace cropped cami in a mintish green. I also wore my gold byzantine necklace and some nude platform pumps by Prada. These pumps are an investment piece because they are the exact shape and color I was looking for in a nude patent pump. A lot of the pumps out there are described as a nude color, but in actuality they are pink and that was not what I was looking for in my perfect leg elongating pump. I bought these at the end of last summer from Saks and they were pretty difficult to find. I treasure them because I am picky about pumps and this pair is definitely a keeper. I am beginning to think Prada and Miu Miu own the market on comfort in designer shoes as well as these do not pinch my toe box at all and my feet are not extremely narrow.
I wanted to answer a question I get asked quite often. Do I wear high heels all the time? No, I do not wear them all the time. I wear them quite often, but if my feet ever start to hurt I also carry ballet flats in my bag, purse, or car so I can change. I also carry some Converse and some Nike running shoes, as well as flip flops. Sometimes I even carry Uggs in the winter because they are warm, comfortable, and I live in a snowy state. I love high heels and designer shoes, but I also do not want any type of foot deformities. I think you can wear high heels for as many hours as you feel comfortable, but if you are ever in pain you should have some other footwear choices in your car. If you search my blog you can find me wearing ballet flats, Uggs, and Converse in various posts. If you want to see me in flip flops check out my Poodles & Pigs page in the navigation bar at the top.

I was going for a more sophisticated look with this outfit. I always enjoy trying new things and putting together outfits no matter what the occasion. Sometimes trousers suit my mood, especially when I get sick of wearing black opaque tights. These Missoni pants are very thick and warm and extremely well made. They are not the most flattering pants in the world, but I really don't care. They are quite comfortable. The print is pretty wild of course and would definitely make a man wonder what the hell you are wearing. I was wondering if this outfit would repel a man, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I got the pants off the Outnet for a bottom barrel price as usual and they have little zippers at the ankles, but I left them zipped up for now and tucked into the ankle straps of my Alaia platform sandals. You have seen me wearing Missoni flare pants before on Fashion Snag that had more of a seventies vibe.
I paired the printed Missoni knit bottoms with a Karen Zambos Vintage Couture silk camisole in green. This top has been hanging in my closet since 2009 with the tags still attached and I am glad it finally got to see the light of day. It is a beautiful green color, totally on trend for spring. It was soft and luxurious and I layered it with my favorite Only Hearts lace bralette. The Tracy Reese leather jacket complete with crawling ivy embroidery was a piece I snagged off Gilt Groupe back in 2009 during a final sale. It is an absolutely gorgeous jacket and it also has zippers at the sleeves that you can unzip. I love this jacket, but I never found the perfect outfit for it to go with until now. It is lined in silk and the lining itself is so pretty. Tracy Reese really makes nice leather jackets. The color is different from anything in my closet as well. I hope you like the outfit as it is a step outside of my usual comfort zone, but I like to experiment all the time.
I just realized that the colors in this outfit are perfect for Easter!

Here is another take on dressing down sequins using a dress. This beautiful ruffled black sequin dress by Karen Zambos Vintage Couture had been hanging in my closet for quite a long time. I recently rotated it to my movable rack of clothing because I wanted to wear it soon. I always felt it was so sparkly and dressy, but since I dressed down the Alice + Olivia sequin leggings in an earlier post I thought I could now tackle a sequin dress. I like ruffles, but ruffles don't always like me because I have a butt. Luckily, the ruffles on this dress were just along the bottom hem and not in the butt area so no problems there.
To dress it down I couldn't help but pair it with a green/brown canvas material. This trench by Elizabeth and James seemed like the perfect match, right down to the asymmetrical front. Rachel Bilson was spotted wearing this field trench as well. For shoes I chose one of my favorite pairs by Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain, the fringed leather boots. These are my favorite shoes because they are casual and dressy at the same time. They also have fringe and are moccasin-like which embodies my bohemian spirit. I really thought the suede, fringe, and green canvas came together to subdue the shiny sequin dress.
Be sure to watch my video where I talk about online sample sale sites and my experiences with them, the good and the bad.
