Green sequin shorts, a shiny waist belt, and a nude camisole came together to form a pretty eclectic ensemble. By adding a silky textured black jacket I formed another layer of fabric that clashed well with the sequins. A floppy hat filled out the top heavy look while lace-up boots kept my feet warm. The talented Sabina from My Style Canvas drew this beautiful illustration of me. I love the photo she chose and how she caught that late afternoon glow in the trees in her drawing. Thank you Sabina! See more photos of this outfit here.

Cynthia Rowley Cashmere Cutout Sweater in Black - Snagged off Gilt.com for $129 (Retail: $330)
I will readily admit that I have become quite particular about the fabrication of pieces I buy online. I look for cashmere, silk, alpaca, mohair, wool, leather, etc. mostly or a good blend that I know will be soft. This probably stems from the fact that in high school I could barely afford to get myself something at Vanity or American Eagle in the mall and I was made fun of for not having the best clothing. I take full advantage of getting the best materials now to assure that my item will last. I also want the item to be able to work again and again in many different outfits. This Cynthia Rowley cashmere sweater was a great find on Gilt. Now, I can see why it might have been a hard sell. It has cut-outs on the back and the front near your shoulders. I swoon over cutouts, but some people probably don't like them very much. You could layer a long sleeve underneath or wear it as is on a cool, yet sunny day. Luckily, in Denver we have a lot of days where the sun is shining so even though it is winter it stays pretty warm. In other words, the sweater was a perfect buy for a Denver-ite like me.
To play with how it looks I tucked the front into my leather shorts and left the back of it hanging out. I think it looks better this way. Otherwise, it hides my shape too much in both the front and the back. These Alice + Olivia leather cady cuff shorts, which I also own in black, have only been seen on the Shopbop website. They sold out pretty fast and I have yet to see them in moss anywhere else, but if you do see them and can afford to get them I would highly recommend it. The color is perfect and they glow in photos. I think the cuff on these leather shorts makes them easier to dress up than most so I wore some stiletto heels for footwear. These Jimmy Choo Jedd studded ankle boots were a gift from my boyfriend last Christmas. I haven't worn them in a while, but when I pulled them out again I wondered why I hadn't chosen them more. They are very comfortable and the style is edgy, yet not too trendy. If you are scared to step into ankle boot territory these might be a good first step without going all the way.

Fendi High-Heel Gladiator Sandals - Snagged off the now defunct eLuxury.com for $298.80 (Retail: $830)
Cynthia Rowley Sequin Shorts in Moss - Snagged off ForwardForward.com for $293.25 (Retail: $345)
Elizabeth and James Low Scoop Back Tank in White - Snagged off Gilt.com for $34 (Retail: $95)
My boyfriend refers to these sequin shorts by Cynthia Rowley as circus shorts. I guess he can't love everything I wear. I still adore them and they are so comfortable due to the silk lining. They are almost like a skirt. The moss color is perfect for me and when they first popped up on the Forward by Revolve website I knew I had to have them in my closet. I paired them with this low back tank that reveals a lot of my non-existent side boobage or should I say side bra-age. Anyway, the moral of the story is that I have always wanted sequin shorts and I like that these aren't skin tight. I paired them with my Fendi heels in this beautiful gray color. I will never get sick of gladiator heels. They hold my feet in so perfectly!

Cynthia Rowley Foggy Floral Skirt in Floral Print - Snagged off Gilt.com for $149 (Retail: $350)
Haute Hippie Rib Racer Back Tank in Blush - Snagged off Shopbop.com for $45.50 (Retail: $65)
Tiffany Diamond Dragonfly Pendant - Gift from Boyfriend and worn before here with Grey Ant dress and Gucci boots
This Cynthia Rowley floral skirt is so beautiful and it glows in these photos. It is on sale on Gilt right now for $10 less than what I paid. I think it is worth every penny, especially when you consider the retail price. These Alaia platforms seemed like the perfect color to go with this skirt. I kept the outfit simple by pairing it with a blush colored tank from Haute Hippie. I love a good ribbed tank and I don't think you can ever have too many. This Tiffany diamond dragonfly pendant was a gift from my boyfriend a few years ago. I love dragonflies both for their beauty and function. They can really catch a mosquito fast, saving people from scratching and itching a nasty bite for days. In other news, I have been eating way too many glazed donuts. I think it is the sugar high. This might be why my boyfriend refuses to make me an orange julius before bed.
