High waisted denim shorts are always on my radar so when I see a pair pop up from any jean brand I usually check them out.

7 For All Mankind High Waist Cut Off Shorts

High waisted denim shorts in a darker wash are difficult to find at most retailers.  Last year I managed to find only one pair by Genetic Denim and this year I came across this ultra destroyed pair from 7 For All Mankind.  The waist fits perfectly and they are so comfortable.  For their first outing I wore them with this open back knit sweater from Kimberly Ovitz.  It has an interesting shape that allows you to show off some midriff as well as some back.  A fringed suede clutch added a bohemian feel, while a vintage lapis and diamond ring added some bold color to the ensemble.  When you are wearing this sheer of a sweater and high waisted shorts it is best to toughen up the rest of your ensemble via your footwear.  I chose black suede ankle boots by Giuseppe Zanotti instead of sandals for that purpose.  The visually interesting details are always the smallest pieces like this Helmut Lang asymmetric bra.  You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to see all my videos.
