Why is it that when you were a kid it seemed like summer lasted forever? I remember looking forward to summer vacation and even wondering if I would remember all that Spanish when school started again in the fall. I would usually devour Sweet Valley High books from the library and win plastic containers full of Laffy Taffy that I hated because I read so many books. Does anyone actually like Laffy Taffy? One time the librarian thought I hadn't returned a book and I actually found the book in the stacks myself to prove to her that I definitely had returned the book and in a timely manner.
Other summers I languished away with my brother conquering Donkey Kong Country for Super Nintendo. Yes, if you think I am a perfectionist in terms of blogging or fashion you should know that I am even more of a perfectionist when it comes to video games. If you remember Donkey Kong Country for Super Nintendo you know that there is a percentage level that you can achieve by finding all the secrets. Sometimes it even went over 100% and then they would put a little asterick after the number to indicate that you had found every single secret. My brother and I had to call in to this hotline once when we got really stuck, but otherwise I made him die many times falling down cliffs and stuff to see if there were any hidden bananas or caves. It was a team effort with my brother fighting the "end guys" because I was usually too nervous. We ended up conquering Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3 and also getting the full completion percentage on each game. I would do this all over again if I could. If only summer lasted as long as it did back then.
