I love cowboy boots so these Barbara Bui ones are perfect for me since they are cut right at the ankle.
Denim on denim outfits are my favorite. I love seeing other people wearing them, as well as trying out new combinations within my wardrobe to create them. The new piece in this outfit is the J Brand denim jacket. During my recent closet clean I got rid of the only two basic jean jackets I owned and both were by Abercrombie & Fitch. They were alright, but the stitching was bothering me on one of them and the other had a wash that I had grown tired of. I never knew if I would find another denim jacket as I rarely see ones I like online and I never go thrifting or vintage hunting in Denver. Luckily, J Brand came out with some really nice denim jackets. This one is a light wash called atomic. I think it is beautiful and it was recently spotted on Jessica Alba. I cuffed up the sleeves and I was ready to go to Petco.
The trick to wearing denim on denim is to wear different washes of denim on the top and the bottom. Since my jacket was a lighter color denim I wore darker denim shorts by Siwy on the bottom. Underneath my jacket I wore this pointelle hoodie from Autumn Cashmere that I think creates a beautiful pattern on the skin. I let the hood and sleeves of the sweater peek out from the jean jacket. My trusty Helmut Lang asymmetric bra is the bra of the season. I love this thing. It is comfortable like a sports bra and looks really cool under all your open knit sweaters. They re-stocked it and I have a link to it in the outfit description above.
Since the outfit was really taking on a western vibe with a touch of the 90s I went with the feeling and threw on my Barbara Bui booties. I wore these last year a couple times, but this time I found the perfect socks to wear underneath them to make them more comfortable in the heat. The grey color of the boots sorta matches the light denim color of the jacket. I love cowboy boots so these Barbara Bui ones are perfect for me since they are cut right at the ankle. Turquoise and gold bangles added a little touch of color to the ensemble, while Oliver Peoples sunglasses created a 90s feel.
