We are always on the hunt for new photo shoot locations. This time we drove to the edge of town near the freeway thinking we wouldn't find anything. To our suprise we found an entire community of prairie dogs. As I got out of the car a few of them let out alarm calls to alert others of our presence. I caught quite a few prairie dogs standing on their hindfeet or bopping their heads out of the mounds. It is pretty sad that this is the only open space and grass they have to build their communities and it is totally surrounded by skyscrapers and office buildings. I wrote my final paper in Conservation Biology on the black-tailed prairie dog and my computer wallpaper still features a black-tailed prairie dog photo that I used in my PowerPoint presentation.
Of course once we found all these prairie dogs here I wished that I had my sneakers or flip flops handy and not these light-colored suede Barbara Bui platform sandals. These would not have done so well in the dirt. This is my second pair of Barbara Bui shoes and I really liked this pair due to the way the buckle looks. I also like the ankle strap. Ankle straps can be dangerous, but I think this ankle strap actually makes your legs look longer. The almost nude colored suede also helps to create a leg elongating effect.
I wore this Parker floral cami dress I snagged at Shopbop for a pretty good price. Parker makes this cami dress in all different types of prints and even some solid colors. I was hesitant to purchase this due to some mixed reviews, but I am so in love with it. It is made of that silk jersey that won't wrinkle no matter how long you are sitting in it. I also think this particular print is one of the best editions of the dress. The dress is flattering as well with an elastic waist and racer back. I even like the ruffle at the neckline even though I am usually not that into ruffles. I planned on wearing just the Parker dress alone, but I brought along this army-looking cotton shirt by Equipment just in case it got cold. This shirt is so soft it is unbelievable. I like Equipment's silk shirts so much I thought I might as well try their cotton variety. I like the cuffed sleeves on this one and the subtle distressing near the shoulders. I purchased this shirt from Saks for around $60 and it is made in the USA. All of Equipment's silk shirts are made in China so I was suprised to see that this cotton one was made in the USA.
