We ended up having a few nice days where the snow melted in the streets and we could shoot some outfits. Of course today it snowed and it looks like Christmas out there again. I don't mind the snow, but it makes it a little more difficult to shoot outdoor photos. I like wearing my UGG boots, but I don't want to wear them every day on my blog. By the way, you can see me wearing some tall black UGG boots with a leopard coat here. Luckily, for heavy snow days there is always the indoor studio.
I let my boyfriend cut my hair the day before these photos were taken. It was his first time giving anyone a haircut and he did surprisingly well. He wasn't even nervous when I asked him and I guess you could say I trust people easily. That will save me a trip to the salon where they try to blowdry and fry the heck out of my hair. I would rather let it air dry. I am wearing a look that is classic on the top and trendy/urban on the bottom. I always like to let my shoes do the talking and I sort of think of shoes as the icing on a cake. You can be creative in that area.
This Carven sweater is a classic cable knit design and I love the cropped length. It kept me so warm that I wondered why I brought my coat. That is why you see me wearing my coat on my shoulders in a lot of the shots or slung over my shoulder. I am also running a fever that keeps me pretty warm. My boyfriend was getting cold while shooting the photos and he was wearing a jacket.
On top of the sweater I am wearing this super cute Rag & Bone wool duffle coat. I love the toggle fastenings, the navy blue color, and the bright orange quilted lining. The pop of color is built right into the coat. I snagged it off The Outnet for almost 60% off. It was a steal for this type of coat. The coat is also made in the USA so it is really good quality.
On my legs are my favorite high-rise skinny jeans of the moment from Rag & Bone. I find these Rag & Bone jeans run true to size. They definitely have a body hugging fit and they go so well with cropped tops and sweaters. The dark wash is pretty slimming as well. You can see me wearing them recently with low ankle boots here and with a crop top here.
I pulled out an old favorite pair of high heeled ankle boots. I snagged these Balmain boots way back in 2010. See me wearing them with a Balmain bullet belt here and with Alexander Wang denim leather shorts here. I think these shoes have a lot of character and attitude. They add just the right amount of edge to the classic look. I like when people will look over an outfit from top to bottom with their eyes and when they get to the bottom their eyes widen because they notice the shoes. That's when you know you got them.
An old friend bought me this Elizabeth and James pink fur coat as a Christmas gift. I was very excited to style it since you don't usually see me in fur or in pink. The coat keeps you really warm and it is perfect for the Colorado winter weather. I got away with wearing a short sleeve T-shirt underneath it and that was it. I am wearing a size x-small in the coat if you are interested in purchasing it. It also comes in a gray color and I have linked to all the shops that sell it in the photo carousel below the writing.
I snagged the A.L.C. v-neck tee I am wearing over at Shopbop for 40% off. I love a great v-neck because it is perfect for showing off a statement necklace. This top also comes in white. I am wearing a size x-small in the tee. My friends at Kelly Bello Design sent over this lovely black diamond and white gold necklace. The three bars represent the past, present, and the future. I love this necklace because it adds a nice edge to any look.
On my legs are an old pair of 3.1 Phillip Lim pants in suede. Some of you longtime Fashion Snag readers may remember these pants. You can see me wearing them here and here. I still love them now as much as I did when I snagged them years ago. They have a slight flare to them and the suede is thin so it doesn't add too much bulk. I could not find these pants available for purchase anywhere so your best bet might be eBay.
I wore my Saint Laurent fringe bucket bag to add a touch of boho to the look. I can't express how much I adore this bag. I think it is super cute, edgy, and hip at the same time. I always find it difficult to resist fringe pieces. On my feet I am wearing Saint Laurent western boots. You have seen me wearing these recently with skinny jeans here and with flare jeans here. They go well underneath flare jeans and over skinny jeans so I am finding them very useful. They could also go with tights and a skirt. The boots run true to size.
Try an all white look for winter to get in the mood for spring. Combine white denim, a white top, and a white faux fur coat for a fun ensemble. Add an icy blue clutch and statement earrings to finish off the outfit. Shop the entire look below. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to see all my videos.
When you are tired of winter and ready for spring try an all white look. It gets you in the mood for spring even when spring is still far away. You can see a previous winter white look of mine here. This outfit was inspired by this fluffy white Stella McCartney mohair coat I snagged off The Outnet for 60% off. It is so soft and surprisingly very warm. I like how the mohair on the coat forms a pattern of rosettes. I blended three different shades of white to create this look. Don't worry if all the whites don't match for your outfit. They shouldn't match. It is better to blend pure white, ivory, and off-white hues to create something beautiful and original.
Underneath the coat I am wearing one of my favorite basics. This Splendid long sleeve top has come in handy this winter. It is made of a soft cotton/modal blend. I love wearing it under bulky coats like this one. I think in general when you are wearing a faux fur, fur, or any type of coat like the one I am wearing above you are are better off wearing a form-fitting top underneath that skims the body. I am wearing a size small in the top if you are interested in purchasing and wondering about fit.
These Stella McCartney flare seventies jeans are one of my favorite styles. I already have them in dark blue and blue/black. White denim is difficult to wear. It adds pounds and shows everything. I was feeling brave and decided to give white jeans a try anyway. You can see me wearing white skinny jeans here. Since these jeans are flares they elongate the legs and still create a slimming effect. I wore my Alaia ankle boots underneath so the jeans were just the right length and not dragging on the pavement. I am around 5'5 and of course you can see the boots I wore underneath by clicking the link in the previous sentence. This is just to give you an idea of the length of the jeans in case you are interested in purchasing them. I find they run true to size.
I added some color to the look by wearing some blue/green accessories. I prefer simple clothing looks and let the accessories do the decorating. Here I added a pebbled leather clutch that has a nice little strap to put your hand through for easy carrying. I love the color of this ECCO clutch so much and the leather is super soft and high quality for only $150. The Tres Chic Boutique earrings added a touch of glamor to the ensemble. I love the cool blue hues. They are definitely statement earrings and for $32 they are a steal.
